Lessons in California - A Lesson in Diversity

Lessons available in California are as numerous as California is populous.
Online ads can direct you to your area of interest.

While many states can boast a plethora of lessons on offer, none is as sprawling geographically, nor topographically and culturally diverse as California.

To be sure, other states can offer myriad subjects and hobbies to suit most interests.

But how many states can access places as the low lying, scorching dessert to surfing off the coast to the skiing and snowboarding of the mountains? Lessons are taught in each locale.

Camps teaching these skills and others abound, too. Keep an eye out for lessons that may require your training and skills- there just might be a job for you! All over the United States parents who can afford it are pushing their children to read before age three, speak a second language, learn ballet and a musical instrument by age five. Multiply this by the population of California and you get an idea of the need for specialized lessons.
And California lessons run the gamut from singing to surfing and everything in between. Also, the large Hispanic population makes speaking English for them a necessity and for English speakers to speak Spanish a huge advantage. On the web there is an ad for The School for Everything! There you can choose courses on how to focus your camera on one hand and how to do yoga on the other.
Learn about climate change and geology, the elevation of Death Valley and the height of Redwood trees. Some ocean side states or ones with large lakes showcase schools where one can learn kite boarding, sailing and windsurfing, etc.

But they can't teach you to survive a marathon below sea level. Such is the diversity of California.
But there is a practical element in many lessons offered which are magnified in today's environment. These, also can be located via classified ads. As many areas in the country, California is experiencing the worst of the recession; in this instance its variety has not mitigated its economic pain and huge debt. Unemployment exceeds the national average; more and more people are scouring classified ads in vain searching for jobs -almost at any wage. Some realize that their only opportunity may lie in "reinventing" themselves and redefining their skills.
Websites are a great way to brainstorm and match ones interests with prospective employers needs. Stories are plentiful of people who not only are surviving the financial downturn but are thriving in it. A host of home-based businesses have sprung up and, yes, even those which offer lessons in California-lessons which many learned while searching to change skills!
